Toddler+excess energy +idle time = Devil’s paradise😈 😈 Ah! And that’s some serious patience testing time for me as a parent. High on energy means lesser nap time 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ and oodles of mischievous activities that can drive you nuts 🥜 .
I see it this way...Lil Samaira is not a mischievous kid instead she is a bundle of high energy that needs direction...dealing with the extra energy of your kids is not that difficult. Proper utilisation of that energy can help a lot in their overall development as well as they end up being more productive. Below are few tips that helps me deal with the extra energy of my toddler:
.
.
☘️Kids with excess energy are generally high on creative intelligence. Hence, I Keep my art supplies handy and we indulge in lot of art and craft activities. And, she really enjoys doing it...add on is Long hours spent in doing Creative work, enhancing her thinking power and less in doing mischief.
.
☘️Nothing should be forced. Let the baby decide what he or she prefers to do in a particular point of time. For Samaira, I have scheduled a routine (likely she follows it and at times she has her own plans 🤣🤣) But I am always ready with options, there are days when she is just not interested in indoor activities instead she wants to go outdoor...feeding fish, collecting stones, or just spend time running after butterflies 🦋 .
.
☘️A lot of energy is spent playing and running around in an open space. This really save my house from being the den of Samaira’s notorious accomplishments. Kitchen is her favourite joint and she creates havoc there...literally bringing the house down. Playing outdoor is really important. .
.
☘️Installing a sense of discipline in a mischievous kid is way too important. Object, stop, warn and make them aware of what wrong they did when they cross lines. When you say it calmly, they listen! And when they do something good, applaud, increase the dose of kisses, snuggles, hugs ...let it compensate for the time you have been strict. Let the baby understand, there is more to your relationship. Let the bond be stronger and more defined. .

atoddlerdrama 🤗TODDLER RULES🤗😑 Climb on everything
.
Lick the floor
.
Hide in the dirtiest corners of the house
.
Laugh like you are supposed to scare everyone around
.
Bang on everything. Especially the bathroom door, when mom is inside😑
.
Splash water everywhere, and make the cutest face to prove that they didnt do it
.
Play with the food
.
Dump all the toys and then walk away😑
.
Undress the toys
.
Scream at the top of their voice
.
Call out 'Mamma' a million times and then forget what they were calling you for😑
.
Asks you to make dish A, but then doesnt want to eat it because it's either not the colour they want or because they now want B. And then continue to do so🙄
.
Have a meltdown at the mall
.
.
A toddler can do more in one unsupervised minute than most people can do all day. But hey, they are gonna be toddlers only for a while. So enjoy this phase of theirs. It might me tiring and might drive you all crazy, but the sloppy kisses, squishy hugs, cute smiles and unconditional love make it all worth it.

CuddlyCoo playmat .
.
☘️ Just in time CuddlyCoo sent us this perfect play mat for our playroom.
.
.
☘️ I’ve been looking for a playmat for a while, but I couldn’t find what I was looking for😕. Like an angel came CuddlyCoo to my rescue, the playmat was something that I was excatly looking out for. The mat is just perfect for use: 🌼 the size (1m * 1m)
🌼 texture (quilted cotton)
🌼 the colour (they have 4 options - blue,gray,yellow,cyan) .
.
.
☘️ And the playmat is washable, can be easily maintained. .
.
.
☘️ As you know Chintu takes responsibility of his playroom (Montessori space), this mat is absolutely child friendly, it is easy for him to roll out when he wants to use, roll it back in when he is done (light weight)
.
.
☘️ Also this play mat can be used both by babies and toddlers. Perfect for tummy time, to sit and read , for the baby/toddler to relax, activities - multipurpose .
.
.
☘️ CuddlyCoo is a brand that gives us some unique products with excellent quality. A brand that is very promising - value for money. If you are looking for a playmat then you must definitely check this out.

atoddlerdrama Toddlers can drive you crazy, their mood changes, their choices change, there are days when they suddenly stop eating the things they love to have, some days they may not eat much & other days it may seem they’re enjoying their food, getting hungry often. Basically this behaviour is not so strange, toddlers are picky, its just that give them what they want. Don't force them to eat what you want them to eat, instead make things fun, try new foods, foods in shapes & colors. Also try to sit with them patiently & eat the same thing, this trick works most of the time!! 👍🏻
P.S my baby is loving black olives these days 😘😘 #saymashallah #toddlerlife #toddlersofinstagram #atoddlerdrama #eatclean #eathealthy #babyboy #blogger #momblogger

atoddlerdrama *Foam egg hunt + Name Recognizing + Ice cream shop pretend play*

Late post due to mommy’s laziness and work 🙇‍♀️, we did this on March 31, 2020.

Foam sensory base - just dish soap + warm water - beat it heavily — Ta da —> foam base is ready !! .
After few minutes my base started a little watery but he did not mind!! .

Basically , he was all involved even in preparing foam, so he chose the colors, I told he’s going to egg hunt, and he anyway needed all his construction vehicles for the hunt 🤷‍♀️!! .
He enjoyed a lot , after hunting for his Name and matching it , he took baking cup cake liners and said now it’s ice cream shop , mommy please come to buy ice cream, and mommy was I have work 😂

Balancing : Pre-Maths

.
🌟 We used this balancing toy (weighing balance )from @biblubox for understanding the concept of heavy and light.
.
.
🌟 Along with the toy I also had a bowl of coloured chickpeas. The play was to add in chickpeas one by one to balance to the weight kept on the weighing balance. While trying to balance , Chintu was introduced to the concept of heavy / light/ balance.

atoddlerdrama 🌟 A very common question that I keep getting every other day is regarding the things I use for DIY activities. Where I bought them? What are the things we need to have ? Or regarding the investment... too many questions regarding the same - “what are the things required for a DIY activities at home? “

atoddlerdrama Button Strips .
.
☀️ This is a very simple DIY , all you need is some felt sheets and buttons. Cut the felt sheets into strips, stitch the buttons on one end and make hole for the button on the other end.
.
.
☀️ An activity that comes very handy during travels and this is great for button practice. Requires some good hand-eye coordination and definitely helps the child in dressing up all by himself. Thank you Pinterest for this idea 🙈 we are loving it.

1) Hammer painting / smash painting(Vandu named) — #hangaheart
.
2) construction vehicle painting ( Vandu led) when he was doing painting for #gratitudecovidwarriors he suddenly got this idea and wanted to do that ( I just gave materials)
.
3) Spray painting — Mom introduced it to him, turned it out to a flower. He enjoyed it , but he decided to remove the flower piece kept and turned it to finger painting, tore it saying I made a puzzle , and poor mommy turned those into flower for later use.
.

Lots of talk about color mixing while doing hammer painting in another sheet which was not included .

Setup : - base : I used cotton rounds, cotton pads etc, can use any sensory bases! - Easter eggs to hide Alphabet - Alphabets . Just hide the letters inside eggs and have a medium to match them! . Little Vandu was all about eggs eggs as it always have surprises ( even now ) , so it was fun and engaging . Sorry for poor video skills . @a_toddler_drama Not sure whether this will count for #atoddlerdrama prompt : Hunt , kinda checked your post a little late :) . #creative_little_hands #quickeasyplay #meaningfulplayideas #inalldayplay #easter_simple_play #cantwait2play_summerplay #resolvetoplay #letsplayheuristic #learnthroughplay #preschoolactivities #trialandexplore #thelockdownlist
atoddlerdrama 🤗TODDLER RULES🤗😑 Climb on everything
It might me tiring and might drive you all crazy, but the sloppy kisses, squishy hugs, cute smiles and unconditional love make it all worth it.

atoddlerdrama Dear parents. It’s was indeed lovely to see the mom & tots sharing, caring , bonding , building tolerance & relationships with each other as our mom & tot groups are getting bigger. Hats 🎩 off to one of our only daddy who was diligently involved with his child during the session . Circle time , Sponge absorption activity, free play & physical play .
Sponge activity is a great way for your child to practice their dexterity and gross motor skills, as well as learn about the properties of water in the process. They will intuitively begin to grasp the concept of absorption as they work with the sponge. Who knew that liquid could be moved like this?🤔😃. Our next mom & tot sessions dates 12th & 14th March 2020. 11:00- 12:00pm. atoddlerdrama Toddlers can drive you crazy, their mood changes, their choices change, there are days when they suddenly stop eating the things they love to have, some days they may not eat much & other days it may seem they’re enjoying their food, getting hungry often.

The Poop Book 💩
.
.
🌼 Everytime I buy a book for Chintu, I make sure that I read it first, before I read it out to him. Chintu is very specific when it comes to books, there are some books that gets his interest, one such book is this. He laughs and enjoys everytime we get to read this book.
.
.
🌼 When I first read it, I was surprised with all the facts/information shared in this book. We learn so much along with our kids.
.
.
🌼 About the Book along with our experience:
.
💩 As the name of the book hints , this book is all about “Poop” - Yes it is about Poop of various animals, insects, birds...
.
💩 The book is filled with fascinating facts about poop of various animals. Chintu and I were amazed to know how Poop is being used in different ways by different animals. Least did I know that this boy will fall in love with this book .
.
💩 Also the illustration of little kids on every page got him more attracted.
.
💩 That “YUCK” feeling or saying towards any “POOP” is blurred away. Instead some fun filled knowledge about Poop is learnt.
.
.
If you don’t have this book , then just go for it without any second thought, this book is beautiful.

atoddlerdrama Rainbow Stacker 🌈
.
.
🌈 Been wanting to talk about the rainbow stacker for while now, it’s been a long pending post, let me share my opinion about the Rainbow Stacker.
.
.
🌈 When it comes to the Rainbow stacker, there are so many queries I’ve personally received. Some examples : what is the purpose? How to play with it ? Is it really worth the money ?
.
.
🌈 Let me tell you something - Invest in a rainbow stacker and you will be amazed to see how you child uses it, you will also come up with ideas to play it. Rainbow stacker is an open ended toy, it just grows with your child.
.
.
🌈 I’ll share a few ways to use the Rainbow Stacker. .
• Stack ( understanding big,bigger,biggest and small,smaller,smallest)
• Small world play .
• Create Patterns / Replicate patterns (print a few patterns from the web and ask your to replicate the patterns)
• Build ( this the child with decide, for example : build a bridge - something that most kids do)
• Maths (counting) and colour sorting • Marble/Ball Run
.
. 🌈 We have both 7 piece and a 12 piece rainbow stacker. Options to play with the 12 piece is higher. .
.
.
🌈 Age group : Personally I would suggest 2+ years, but don’t expect your child to immediately come up with building 3D structures or more creations, it takes time. So until then you can help them in using it in different ways : for example - sorting, marble run, small world play. .
.
.
🌈 Our rainbow stacker is from @chitrani.wooden.toys . My discount code “atoddlerdrama15”

Picture Talk
.
➡️ Two weeks back I put this particular picture in our Montessori shelf. I wanted the picture to stay there for a while to see what Chintu gets to talk about the picture everytime he takes it out. In this post I will want to share our progress through this picture talk.
.
➡️ First time when the picture was out, he was hesitant, I realised he needed a small lead hence I took the lead. I started to talk about the picture and then he continued. .
.
➡️ Each time the picture came out, he spoke about different things, he started to notice different things, he started to look at the picture differently. You would be surprised to know how much a kid gets to observe.
.
➡️ Picture Talk helped in :
• developing vocabulary .
• gain confidence .
• improve observation
• learn new things (there is so much you can talk about the picture) - in our case few things that we spoke about is the animal, the expressions on the animals & kids, where they are, the kids in the zoo, what is a zoo lots and lots.
• Learning about expressions and emotions .
.
➡️ A very simple thing, when an object is given, each one of us look at it in a different way, when asked to talk about it we talk different things, we don’t think the same way- it’s the same with the kids - each kid is different and when it comes to this picture talk - the same kids will start thinking,Expressing and talking in different ways.
.
.
• Try it and you will know what I mean. (Our picture is from @getclassmonitor , you can use any picture)

You would be surprised to know how much a kid gets to observe. . ➡️ Picture Talk helped in : • developing vocabulary . • gain confidence . • improve observation • learn new things (there is so much you can talk about the picture) - in our case few things that we spoke about is the animal, the expressions on the animals & kids, where they are, the kids in the zoo, what is a zoo lots and lots. (Our picture is from @getclassmonitor , you can use any picture) . #atoddlerdrama #everydayplayhacks #invitationtoplay #playmatters #playathomemummy #wherelearningmeetsplay #wherelearningbegins #learningmeetsplay #learningthroughplay #fridayfeaturebysaru #toddleractivitiesathome #kidsactivities

atoddlerdrama 🌼 All you need is some •pipe cleaners and • felt/foam sheets. Make some patterns using the felt sheets, cut out felt sheets into different small shapes, make a small cut/hole in it. (Check the video for reference)
.
🌼 This activity is tricky because the pipe cleaners change shape easily, the kid has to really focus well on moving the felt shape along the pipe cleaner without changing the pattern. .
🌼 A lovely activity to improve their hand eye coordination, focus/concentration,motor skills and also to develop pre-writing skills

atoddlerdrama REPOST• @a_toddler_drama Scissor skill for beginners ✂️ .
.
✂️ The one question that is very common when comes to giving a scissor to a toddler is .
• “At what age” - You can give scissors to a child who is 1.5 years old and above. Between the ages of 1.5 to 2 years old, a child learns to hold scissors, often using both hands, to open and close the blades - This is the phase where the child learns to hold the scissors.
.
.
✂️ There are some things that the child needs to experiment with in order to know how to use it - The scissors is one such thing. You definitely need to show the child how to use it, but again they take their time to analyse and start using it on their own.
.
.
✂️ What the child tries to understand ?
.
• how to hold the scissors in the right position .
• Which fingers to use (they need some muscle strength)
• how to use the muscle strength in the closing and opening of the scissors. .
.
.
✂️ The process might frustrate the child if you give a paper and expect them to learn to use it. Instead of paper go with play dough.
.
.
✂️ Why play dough and not paper? .
.
• Handling a paper and using the scissor can be tricky for a child who is still trying to learn to control the scissors. The paper needs to be held tight and the child needs to cut through the paper which is not easy for them to start with.
.
• A play dough helps them in learning to get control over the scissors, the added difficulty of handling the paper is not required.
.
.
Important : Use only child safe scissors and supervision all time is a must.
.

atoddlerdrama Using fingers to count - DIY 🧤
.
.
🧤 Chintu is so much into counting these days. When there is a new counting activity he is super excited and happy, sometimes he even happens to ask me, “Amma Chintu wants new 123 activity.” .
.
🧤 When he happen to ask me last Friday, I had to quickly set an activity for him. This was set in like just 10 minutes. All you need is • surgical gloves • raw rice (any grains you can choose) • number cards
.
.
🧤 Add in some raw rice into the gloves, tie the end. The gloves is ready for play. Place both the gloves on a tray along with the number cards. .
.
🧤 Now invite the child to recognise the number and use the fingers of the glove for counting. .
.
🧤 This activity helps in number recognition, counting along with some sensory play. Also some good work for the little finger muscles as the child tries to move the rice to fold/open the fingers.

.
💧 What to do ? Very simple , write numbers randomly on the paper having some good spacing so you can stick the cotton pads on top of each number. Once written use the glue to stick the cotton pads. And this is set. .
.
💧Now bring some water in a glass along with a dropper. Place the paper on the tray to hold on the extra water.
.
.
💧 How to play ? Invite your child to use the dropper to take some water, and drop the water on each cotton pads to discover the underlying numbers. The child will be surprised to identify a number being discovered everytime the water drops on the cotton pads. A fun activity for number recognition, can do the same with shapes, alphabets, colour with anything similar to the child’s learning.

atoddlerdrama Things you need to know about Pre-Writing ✍️ .
.
✍️ We don’t expect a new born baby to walk the very next day, we know that the baby grows through various stages before he/she can run - the baby learns to hold his head upright first, then slowly turn over, then moves on their tummy, sit, stand, and finally walk- every stage is a preparation to the next. It doesn’t happen overnight, then “Why do we keep expecting the child to write before them being trained with the techniques they require to get there?”
.
.
✍️ You must have witnessed or heard of some older kids struggling to hold a pencil in the right way or correct way/ kids not comfortable with writing-most of this can be because the kids were not prepared properly. .
.
.
✍️ Some things to focus on for pre-writing skills : .
1. Hand and Finger strength
2. Hand eye coordination
3. Upper body strength (developing shoulder muscles)
4. Bilateral integration
5. Hand dominance
.
.
✍️ Some activities to support/develop pre-writing skills : .
.
✏️ To develop upper body strength : Tearing newspaper into strips, sweeping using a broom, climbing activities, pushing & pulling bigger objects .
.
✏️ As the child develops in these gross motor skills and develops strength, move on to the next .
.
✏️ Hand and Finger strength : One best activity to develop these little muscles is Play Dough, then scissor (cutting activities), threading & lacing, everyday activities like open lids of jars, paintings, activities using tongs / tweezers to pick small objects (to develop finger control),activities related to pincer grasp, large and small pegs, nuts and bolts - the list goes on , all of this helps in developing the little hand and finger muscles. Not to forget sensory play (rice play, finger painting ). .

atoddlerdrama Sometimes it is the worst nightmare ever , when you kid starts throwing a tantrum at public places- screaming and throwing themselves down. The child is just not ready to listen to you- yes it can be about the kids mood. I believe it’s better to be prepared for the worst. .
.
There are simple ways that you can prepare your toddler and yourself for it : .
.
1. Before taking the child out, talk to the child about the restaurant- why are you going there and what is expected? ( just a general talk) .
.
2. You need to be prepared, carry a few small things that can fit into the diaper bag or handbag- DIY busy bags /Water wow/books/small figurines/ books
.
3. At the restaurant : .
.
⭐️Talk about the restaurant to the child (two way conversation) - for example : if at a Chinese restaurant , their interior maybe related to China , so talk about everything you see. .
⭐️Play with cutlery : let the child sort the spoons, fork and knife . Talk about the placement of these cutlery & usage (if already done at home, let the child talk about it) .
⭐️Play “I See” game : it’s like “I see a man with a brown hat” - and the child gets to look around, let the child also take his turn and you can look around. .
.
Always remember not to keep the child ideal for too long. Also request to waiter to bring the child’s food quickly so the waiting time reduces. And ordering the child’s favourite food, makes it even better, let the child choose. Happy eating !! Do share your personal experience and ideas to handle kids at a restaurant

Counting- Using Honeybees🐝
.
.
🐝 The changing weather has got us (Chintu & me) sick. He happens to be better today, but not me. I wanted to setup an activity that can be setup quickly and an activity that will keep him busy for a little longer with minimal mess - to my rescue comes the sensory bin idea and @getclassmonitor worksheet.
.
.
🐝 Why I choose to do it this way ? Keeps him occupied longer - always go with your child’s interest. Usually I would have opted for water play or more of a messy play which is sure to keep him busy for minimum 1 hour. Since both of us are unwell this idea - he gets to play with the pasta longer.
.
.
🐝 Why sensory bin? Chintu has more love for sensory/messy play - so I thought of a sensory bin.
.
.
🐝 Why counting activities? Right now most of his focus/interest is on counting , so this worksheet combined with the sensory bin and fine motor tools for an extra challenge.
.
.
🐝 Don’t compare your child’s learning with other kids, every kid’s interest vary, go by their interest and you will be more successful. Forcing a child to learn or do something will not do good.

atoddlerdrama 👻 Festival season is fun in many ways. We had so much fun making this ghost jar especially with a toddler who wants to do it all by himself.
.
.
👻 What did we use ? .
• lollipop 🍭 (that’s the ghost’s head)
• tissue paper .
• glass jar
• twigs/dry grass/ hay .
• play dough(optional)
.
.
👻 How to make ? .
• Use the lollipop to make the ghost- cover it with the tissue, use a black marker to draw the eyes of the ghost.
• optional : Stick the play dough to the Jar lid.
• Add the twigs into the Jar. Now if using play dough, play the end of the lollipop on the play dough and close the lid, else first place the lollipop slowly into the jar and place it where you want it. Close the lid.
• The Ghost in the jar is done👻

atoddlerdrama Picture Talk .
(Our picture is from @getclassmonitor , you can use any picture)

atoddlerdrama Play dough - Learning .
.
💫 Like I already said, you need not always spend on expensive toys and remember activities need not always be complicated.
.
• Plan activities with whatever you have at home 🏠- even for this activity, if you don’t have play dough, make your own play dough or use spoons & ladles from your kitchen- look for alternatives. Learning begins from our environment.
.
.
💫 This activity in particular : We have used only play dough, I did the yellow ones and Chintu did the blue ones. While he was trying to replicate what I did, he had better understanding in what I was trying to help him learn. .

💫 Helping kids understand simple concept through simple everyday play hacks. Activities need not be complicated, you don’t need to spend too much to buy things/toys always. Setup activities with what you have at home.
.
.
💫 This is a very simple activity to help kids understand and differentiate the concept of “Short and Long”. All you need is • washi tape.
.
.
💫 Make a column for short and long. Cut out the washi tapes in two different sizes - short and long. Hand them all in a row at a place. Now ask the child to differentiate the sizes and stick them to the corresponding column. That’s it😊
.
.
💫 You can try this activity with younger kids. We did this activity long back when Chintu was around 18 months old. And did this again today after ages😀

🍁 Last week on our shelf we had shapes flashcard along with some popsticks to create/make the shapes referring to the flashcards. As a continuation to it, we made 2D shapes today using our Magnatiles.
.
.
🍁 We couldn’t make all the shapes from the flashcards , but did a few. With little help from my end Chintu was able to make them.
.
.
🍁 The best thing about this simple activity is that it helped Chintu in having better understanding with shapes. .
.
🍁 What are the ways your kids play with Magnatiles ?? Do share your ideas in the comments below

Shapes using Magnatiles . . 🍁 These Magnatiles are absolutely a huge hit. atoddlerdrama Phonics/Alphabets .
.
🔠 It’s been a few weeks since we started working on phonics. Some of you had asked me “Are you just starting” , one person even stated “ too late to start phonics” - Let me tell you what - “ I/We are in no hurry, I don’t want to force my son to learn or do something “ - I take clues from him responses and then decide on things , it’s that simple.
.
.
🔠 I started phonics with my son based on his interest and readiness, we are doing “one sound at a time” , when he is confident with the sound of a letter, then we move on to the next. .
.
.
🔠 You might have seen in my stories the progress of our learning, do check my highlights incase you missed them or want an idea in the future- we did different activities for each letter.
.
.
🍎 Fill the letter - this is one activity that we did for “A,B,C,D” . All you need is some coloured pasta. On an A4 sheet draw/write the letters the way I did (image for reference) . Use the pasta to fill each letter, as you do say the sound of each letter. .
• Helps in alphabet recognition, fine motor skill development & working on phonics. .
.
🎾 Regularity is very important.

atoddlerdrama BAA BAA BLACK SHEEP .
.
🌑 Hope you remember seeing this art work we did when we were at our native, a few weeks back.
This time when we went to our native we dint carry any of Chintu’s toys, it was just a short trip. One thing that we did was this - totally unplanned, a very successful activity.
.
.
🌑 What you need ? • A4 sheet • Black chart • punching machine • glue
.
.
🌑 Draw the outline of a sheep on the A4 sheet. Invite the child for some happy play. Show the child how to use the punching machine. Let the child do some punching on the black chart. Once the punching is done, carefully take out all the punched pieces into a small container. Let the child use the glue to stick the pieces. A very simple activity, but he was totally into this.
.
.
🌑 “Sing along as you create this piece of art” makes it lively. Talk to the child various things related to the rhyme and the art work , that’s how you bring in some interest to the child, if you just blindly expect them to do the activity they might loose interest in between, as punching needs some patience. .

atoddlerdrama Ocean/Aquatic Environment .
.
We did a few simple things for Chintu’s learning on Aquatic Environment. I’ll just share it in brief.
.
.
🌊 Ocean sensory bottle : This is the play that caught his interest, our sensory bottle is from @flintobox , it can be made at home. This bottle had fishes, sea horse, star fish, pebbles, boat, sea shells. He learnt the concept of float and sink. He further had questions on what the fishes eat, he even asked a question “does fish have a house like Chintu” , “Where is a bed for the fish to sleep?” - curiosity of this toddler began. So decided to learn a little more.
.
.
🌊 Marine Kingdom (Aquarium) : We visited an aquarium, he was super happy and he kept running around first, then slowly stopped by to observe what was happening. To see what he saw in pictures or objects in reality - star fish, crab 🦀 got him excited. Some of his questions were answered. Ended the day with watching a shark 🦈.
.
.
🌊 Window Art - Aqua world - we did some window art using Fleximos ( sensory experience) , made some Aquatic creatures today ( fish 🐟, crab 🦀,seahorse) .

atoddlerdrama Washitape Painting .
.
🖌 This is an activity that has been in my to-do list for a long time now. Today’s play idea was different, but Chintu asked for painting hence this today. Everytime I plan to do this with him it never happens, today it did and I am so happy with the overwhelming responses I received from all of you after watching the stories today.
.
.
🖌 What you need ? • Washitape • Paint • Scissors • paper/canvas board (here I used a canvas board)
.
.
🖌 Steps to do : .
• Stick the washitapes to the canvas board
• Start Painting, fill the board with colours, once done let it dry.
• Remove the washitape from the canvas board after the paint has dried.
.
.
🖌 With older kids you can let them cut and stick the washitapes all by themselves, I did the sticking part, Chintu did the cutting part. He happily painted the complete canvas board. .
.
(Looking for a place to hang this masterpiece at home😍)

atoddlerdrama Cardboard Roll & Rubber Bands
.
.
🌟 Sometimes a way too simple activity to setup is all that you need. An easy setup for busy moms, saviour on lazy days, a travel play idea, an activity that can be done even if you not much of a DIY person.
.
.
🌟This is a super simple fine motor activity- all you need is • a cardboard roll • elastic rubber bands.
.
.
🌟Two ways to play :
.
• Add the bands to the cardboard roll and ask your child to remove them. It is quite an exciting challenge for the little fingers.
.
• Ask the child to add the Rubber bands to the cardboard roll. This is more challenging to the child. (Chintu initially asked for help for this activity, I had to hold the cardboard for him to add the bands) - A thicker band/ hair ties might have made it a little simpler.
.
.
🌟 Important : Strict Active supervision is important at all times

Let the bond be stronger and more defined. .

atoddlerdrama Shaving Foam Rain Clouds🌧
.
.
🌧 We have been talking a lot about the monsoon season at home. So thought will do some activities related to the season, hence this simple fun experiment.
.
.
🌧 A quick experiment that doesn’t require any early preparation or too many things. All you need is • water • shaving foam • blue food colour • glass or bowl
.
.
🌧 It is an experiment to mimic the process of rain in a very simple way - the clouds (shaving foam) what happens when it gets saturated with the water droplets (blue food colour) - the Rain ☔️ drops/pours down.
.
.
🌧 How it has to be done ? Fill the glass with 3/4 water , then squirt some shaving foam on top. Set aside some food colour and use a dropper to drop some generous amount of food colour on top of the shaving foam - Now sit back and watch the colour seeping through.

atoddlerdrama Bake Street (a house of goodness and healthy snacks that are totally nutritious)
.
.
☀️ An Introduction about Bake Street : has been founded by two mompreneurs, with a beautiful vision to make snacking healthier for everyone. When I say everyone it includes toddlers, adults and senior citizens.
.
They have carefully hand picked every ingredient and chose healthier alternatives. Say for example, jaggery instead of processed white sugar, butter instead of margarine, wheat instead of maida.
.
.
☀️ The Granolas - have high proportion of nuts and seeds (you can see the images I posted and you will know what I mean), definitely can be give to our toddlers. For example: can be used as a topping for curd. .
.
The goodness of muskmelon seeds/sunflower seeds and flaxseeds in Granola make them a pack full of super energy.
.
.
☀️ The Date Roll is made with pure dates and toasted almonds- this is a nutrition dense product- Chintu most favourite. And the cookies are handmade, the taste is toddler approved.

atoddlerdrama Counting- Using Honeybees🐝
.
Forcing a child to learn or do something will not do good.
.
.
(DM to get my discount code for @getclassmonitor kit)

atoddlerdrama Weather Cards☀️🌩☔️☁️
.
.
☔️ Off late Chintu has been showing a lot of interest in the changing weather, so I thought this will be a perfect time to introduce the concept of weather to him, hence came up with these DIY weather cards.
.
.
☔️ I just made 4 simple cards - sunny, rainy, cloudy, thunderstorms and lightning. (Haven’t introduced the concept of snow because he still hasn’t experienced it, choose the ones that he can experience for now)
.
.
☔️ What I used ? • black thick sheets • felt sheets
.
.
☔️ How we will be using these cards? These cards will be kept at place where Chintu can access them easily. He can use these cards to identify and tell the weather of the day, also identify the weather when it changes during this monsoon season. .
.
.
☔️ I personally feel this Monsoon season is just perfect to introduce the concept of weather to Chintu - Why? During the day it is sunny ☀️ or cloudy ☁️ and in the evening rainy☔️ thunderstorm,lightning🌩- most days are like this for the past few days. Since he can experience all the 4 four weather types, I choose this time to introduce this concept.

Weather Cards☀️🌩☔️☁️ . (Haven’t introduced the concept of snow because he still hasn’t experienced it, choose the ones that he can experience for now) . . ☔️ What I used ? • black thick sheets • felt sheets . Since he can experience all the 4 four weather types, I choose this time to introduce this concept. . . #atoddlerdrama #playathomemummy #invitationtoplay #diyplayideas #learningthroughplay #playbasedlearning #learningmeetsplay #playmatters #everydayplayhacks #toddleractivitiesathome #toddleractivityideas #kidsactivities #fridayfeaturebysaru #montesorriathome #montessoritoddler #wherelearningmeetsplay #indianmoms #chennaimommyblogger #chennaimoms #bangaloremoms #punemommyblogger

atoddlerdrama Coloured Hair Art .
.
😃 What a fun way to start the day - drew some faces with any hair and invited Chintu to give the men some colourful hair.
.
.
😃 Go with water colours or food colours, we used food colours. Use a dropper, choose colours and drop the colours on the paper randomly. Use a straw and start blowing the colours.
.
.
😃 Blowing was definitely a real task. Chintu put in almost all his energy to blow the colours out. Great workout for the muscles in the mouth.
.
.
😃 This activity brightened our day, we did this for the first time and guess we will be doing this more often.
.
.
Inspired by @imperfectly.perfect.lyf 😊 such a fantastic idea

atoddlerdrama Counting .
.
🔢 A very basic set up for counting activity - but what makes our activity interesting- the frog glove 🐸🧤, numbers and the insect 🦟🐞🐝 are Magnetic 🧲 - Pretend Play was involved
.
.
🔢 The number board is what I made using the cardboard. .
.
How we played?
.
Invited Chintu to pick a number first and then using the glove asked him to take the insect counters, finally place them in the number board.
.
.
🔢 Counting is a basic activity, it is important to change activity setup depending on the Child’s interest. Chintu likes experimenting with magnets hence this activity today.
.
.
The frog glove and insect counters are from our subscription box @flintobox (DM for discount link)

atoddlerdrama Sensory Bottle .
.
🌼 I’ve always wanted to try sensory bottle activity with Chintu, infact wanted to try this sensory bottle play since a very very long time, but was never able to - and I don’t know why🙈
.
.
🌼 Finally, when we did try making a sensory bottle, a very simple sensory bottle - it was a BIG hit
.
.
🌼 What I did ? I brought in all the ingredients and invited Chintu to make this sensory bottle for him to play. I guided him on how it has to be done.
What we used ? • Pom Poms • pipe cleaners • mustard seeds (you can use chia seeds, I dint have so just went with mustard seeds) • water
.
.
🌼 How to make this sensory bottle ? First filled the bottle with water and then add in the rest one after the other. .
.
.
🌼 He found so many ways to play, for example : Shake the bottle and find which Pom Pom reaches the top first, then take a guess on which Pom Pom will reach first.
.
.
🌼 This was really a calming activity, swipe right to see more images. This was also very good for observation.
.
.
🌼 The best thing about sensory bottles is that it can able done according to our availability of things.

atoddlerdrama Toy Review - Lalaboom
.
🧸 How beautiful it is to have a toy that grows along with your child - giving age appropriate learnings and challenges - priced decently and excellent quality. As parents we happen to think about a toy, atleast for a fraction of a second before investing in it. Trust me this toy is worth every penny, I’ll tell you why👇🏻
.
.
🧸 The child can use this toy according to their age- the age group mentioned in the toy box is 10-36 M+ but I think this toy can be used by a 6M+ old baby also - Why? Because every piece has different texture which gives a great sensory experience, something like the sensory balls
.
.
🧸 This is a very colourful open-ended toy : .
• Acts like a sensory ball
• Colour identification and recognition .
• Stacking - pop in pieces together, twist and stack .
• Lacing .
• Gives place for a child’s imagination .
.
All the above with many more to add to it can be played depending on the child’s age.
.
Not to forget your child is sure to discover his own ways to use this toy.
.
.
🧸 The moment I opened this toy box for Chintu his face brightened up, immediately had his hands on it and from that moment his connection with this toy is endless. I sometimes play with it too 🙈 - Acts as my stress buster
.
.
🧸 Thanks to @toycra for bringing some wonderful toys to us. The toy collection that you have is unique and our favourite store.
.
.
🧸 This lalaboom toy is available as - 24,36,48 pieces - only available at @toycra

atoddlerdrama How to reuse old board puzzles 🧩 .
.
.
🧩 Wrap the puzzle blocks using foil paper/gift wrappers : First thing that you can do once the child has learnt to use the puzzle board. This will be an additional challenge to the child, he can unwrap the puzzle block and solve it.
.
.
🧩 Balancing toy : if you want to reuse your chunky puzzle board then this is a must try, it is tricky for the kid and gives him some good challenge.
.
.
🧩 Relate the blocks to some learning : For example (from the puzzle we used-swipe to see the images) - Giving them more Knowledge about the transports .
.
1. Community helpers .
• fire engine 🚒 - fire fighters .
• aeroplane ✈️ - pilot 👨‍✈️ .
.
2. Where these transports belong to ? (Example)
• aeroplanes ✈️ - airport .
• police car 🚔 - police station
.
3. Where does it travel on/through? Land/Water/Air .
• School bus 🚌 - Land
• Boat ⛵️- Water
.
4. What is the purpose of each transport?
.
.
🧩 Pretend play / Small world play : Can be perfectly used for small world plays
.
.
🧩 Story telling - sure to have some cute stories being narrated, sometimes crazy, funny stories, adventures any kind - develops language skills and creativity @kreativedreams that’s for reminding this point
.

atoddlerdrama Water the plants - Trace along the dotted lines 🌷
.
.
🌷 Sometimes all we need is a simple and quick activity that keeps the little one busy. This one was an activity we did in the past from one of our subscription boxes. Chintu wanted to do the same activity, he suddenly asked for it yesterday, so I prepared this with reference from the worksheet.
.
.
🌷 Use fingers paints to trace along the dotted line. Finger paint can be replaced with dot stickers.
.
.
🌷 Encourage the child to use his finger, let him dip his fingers into the paint and imprint it on the dotted lines (trace along) .
.
.
🌷 Develops hand eye coordination, pre-writing skill, fine motor activity with some learning - we spoke about the relationship between the plant-water (simple learning)/why plants require water. .
